Harry Coumnas Plans to Build a Huge Solar Power Satellite
Harry Coumnas , a young space scientist from South Africa has been in the news lately after he announced his plans to build the biggest solar power satellite ever that would deliver clean and abundant power. The satellite, he says would be cleverly positioned right above the gauzy atmosphere to avoid the shadow of night from keep the electrons flowing almost continuously. During a press conference held in New York last Saturday, Harry Coumnas revealed that the satellite he is planning to build would deliver up to 50 times the amount of reliable 24/7 energy that the same cell would generate on the ground. The satellite would have photovoltaic arrays stretching for miles and redirecting sunlight from almost every angle of the space. The electrical current generated by an orbiting array would be sent to Earth in one or two forms. This project is a giant engineering challenge for Harry, but one that he believes has reasonable solutions. He has already sketched out the preliminar...
